Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using CoverStudio ("the Service"), operated by CoverStudio ("we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all of these terms, you may not access or use the Service.

2. Description of Service

CoverStudio is a web-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that enables self-publishing authors and independent publishers to generate print-ready KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) book cover wrap PDFs. The Service includes features such as:

• Client-side PDF generation with precise spine width calculations
• Front and back cover image upload and composition
• Spine typography customization with embedded Google Fonts
• Cloud-based cover design catalog storage via Supabase
• Tiered subscription plans (Free, Pro Creator, Enterprise Publisher)

3. Account Registration

To access premium features, you must create an account using Google OAuth or email/password authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Subscription Plans & Billing

CoverStudio offers three subscription tiers:

• Free Starter: 3 PDF generations total, up to 3 cloud saves, paperback templates only, limited to 150 pages.
• Pro Creator ($9/month or $86.40/year): 100 PDF generations per month, unlimited cloud saves, paperback & hardcover templates, up to 800 pages, Google Web Fonts access.
• Enterprise Publisher ($24/month or $230.40/year): Unlimited PDF generations, unlimited cloud saves, all templates, CMYK high-resolution printing, dedicated support.

Paid subscriptions are billed through our payment processor, Paddle. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize recurring charges at the applicable rate. Pricing is subject to change with 30 days' advance notice.

5. Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of all images, artwork, and content you upload to or create with the Service. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your designs. The CoverStudio platform, including its code, design, branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of CoverStudio and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Upload content that infringes on third-party intellectual property rights
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
• Create multiple free accounts to circumvent usage limits
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service without authorization

7. Data & Privacy

CoverStudio processes all PDF compilation locally in your browser. Your source images are not uploaded to our servers during the compilation process. Cloud-saved cover metadata and PDF files are stored securely via Supabase. For full details, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

8. Service Availability

We strive to maintain 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of scheduled maintenance in advance.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CoverStudio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. You may also cancel your account at any time through the account settings page. Upon cancellation, your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

11. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or through in-app notifications at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and if unresolved, through binding arbitration.
